She's One!!!

Yes! Our little baby turned ONE this week! What a fun day to look back upon (of course you remember that by her actual birthday the whole deed was complete and Pure Joy fogs the memory of the actual event). We have lots to celebrate! We had a little party for her and celebrated with family. She also had her first cupcake and like every good baby ate all the frosting first and left much of the cupcake to crumble and drop to the floor! :)
Happy First Birthday, CoCo! Love you!

 Uncle Brad gives unwrapping support!

note: she's showing you how old she is!

To a one year old, there's nothing quite like a big empty box... especially one with fun colors!

She's a shopper!

CoCo's latest activity is "shopping"! She loves to push around her little cart and load and unload items. It's all EXTREME FUN until the cart gets stuck in the corner and little babes aren't quite sure how to make everything go again!

Cherry Blossoms!

We had such a beautiful Sunday. After church we went to the University where the cherry blossoms are blooming. It was so nice walking through campus and we even stopped for a picnic and to play "ball"! It was a wonderful relaxing afternoon!

She was very excited about the husky and she kept making an "elephant sound" while pounding on the husky's belly. She is SO bright! :)

Not My Favorite!!!

I used to love to sit down to an evening meal.  It was as though my last task of the day was complete and now I could enjoy the pleasure of tasting, sipping and relaxing.  Mmmm...
These days, meals are not my favorite!!!
I don't love how my baby fusses as she hits at her tray with such demand before we get started.  I don't love the impatient arch of the back when we have to wait a moment as it is still a little too hot.  But most of all, I DON'T LIKE THE MESS!!!  I'm not sure why every dropped morsel must be smeared all over the tray or why baby eyes always itch when their fist is full of banana.  I don't understand why it's so interesting to hang the spoon over the edge of the tray and slowly watch applesauce slip from the spoon bed with a SPLAT to the floor?  Why don't they use napkins instead of their sleeves?  Why such a sour face, when two bites later they complain because you aren't shoveling it in fast enough?  I especially do not appreciate the "hair gel" that is applied to baby soft hair during each meal.  Why must they run those grimy fingers through their hair??  OH!! and why must they make a "thbbbbbt" sound with their mouth completely full and then grin at the masterpiece they've created across the front of your shirt?
I do believe the whole mess at meals will be a mystery that will baffle me for all of motherhood... especially while I clean up the mess.  :)

Weekend Trips!

Ben was away at "ski-fest" with high school friends, so CoCo and I decided to go to Canada for the weekend. As always, we had a fabulous time with the Smids!!!  My camera stopped functioning properly, so I want to give credit to Diane who took some of the photos below.
Thanks, Auntie Diane!
"Life Lessons" by Ty

CoCo loved KD, their dog, and would wait for her by the windows!

KD is getting pretty old and wasn't too sure about the extra 17 lbs of cargo!  :)

Kisses from Uncle Howe!

Another GREAT visit to Canada!  Thank you!
